Jennings, Curtis Recognized by CIAA‏ David Hodge 12/21/11 HAMPTON, VA – Ransheda Jennings and Summer Curtis have been honored by the CIAA for their performances during the shortened playing week beginning December 18th. Jennings was tabbed CIAA Player of the Week, and for the second time this season, Curtis was named CIAA Rookie of the Week. On Sunday, December 18th, Jennings became the fourth women's player in Chowan history to reach the 1,000 point plateau for her career. She finished the game with team-highs 21 points and three assists, to go along with nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots. Jennings is leading Chowan in scoring (13.9) and rebounding (6.4) this season. Curtis, the CIAA leader in blocked shots per game, had four more against Bloomfield on Sunday. She grabbed a team high 11 rebounds and shot 4-4 from the floor leading to eight points. Curtis is averaging 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game this season. Chowan (5-5) is off until Wednesday, January 4th, when they open CIAA play at Johnson C. Smith University at 5:30pm.
