Two SC State Freshmen to Participate in USA Junior Nationals William Hamilton 06/22/10 ORANGEBURG, SC – Two South Carolina State freshmen will be among the participants at the 2010 USA Junior National Track and Field Championships hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa June 24-27. Representing SC State will be former Spartanburg High School teammates Arnetra Frazier and Erica Peake, both sprinters. In addition to meeting qualifying standards, participants in the event must be citizens of the USA and must not turn 20 years old during 2010. The 5-3 Peake will compete in the 200 meters and the 400 meters. Her best time in the 200 this season has been 24.42 and she has been clocked in the 400 in a time of 55.89. She placed in both events and in the long jump at the MEAC Championship earlier. Frazier, 5-2, will participate in the 100 meters and the 200 meters. She was second in the 100 at the MEAC Championship and has run a season-best 11.60 in the event. Her best time in the 200 has been 24.34. Also, both ran legs on the Lady Bulldogs’ winning 4x100-meter relay team at the MEAC, while Peake was also on SC State’s 4x400-meter relay team that finished second at the championship. |
