SC State’s Gracia Ties Her Personal Record but Fails to Advance William Hamilton 05/28/10 GREENSBORO, NC – South Carolina State sophomore Monique Gracia tied her personal record with a time of 13.59 in the 100 meter hurdles Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at Irwin Belk Track on the North Carolina A&T campus, however, the Miami native finished 28th overall in the event and only the top 24 advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Lady Bulldogs’ Alexandria Jones, another sophomore, also failed to advance in the 200 meters. SC State still has two triple jumpers and its 4x100-meter relay team in the competition, which culminates Saturday. Carrying the hopes for Coach Tyree Price’s teams are senior Jasmine Smith in the triple jump, the women’s 4x100-meter relay team of Gracia, Alexandria Jones, Arnetra Frazier and Nicole Mobley, with Erica Peake as the alternate, and Marcus Stephens in the men’ s triple jump. |
