Shaw’s Grimmage and Cooper Given CIAA Softball Honors Sherri Fillingham 04/02/10 ![]() Erneisha Cooper, a freshman infielder from Andrews, SC, was named Offensive Player of the Week for hitting .500 in Shaw’s four games. With a double and a triple included in her hit totals, she had a .714 slugging percentage. On the season, she is the Lady Bears second best hitter with a .362 batting average and a .455 on-base percentage. Monica Grimmage, a junior infielder from Georgetown, SC, earned her third straight Player of the Week honor after going five for nine in Shaw’s four games, while anchoring the Shaw defense at first base without an error. On the season, she is hitting .409 with a .621 slugging percentage and a .938 fielding percentage. Shaw split their four games last week, falling in a doubleheader to Johnson C. Smith 8-3 and 5-4, but sweeping a doubleheader against Livingstone 9-5 and 16-7. On the season, the Lady Bears are 12-20 overall and 8-6 in the CIAA. The Lady Bears have completed their home season and will travel to Bowie State for a doubleheader on Tuesday and to Lincoln (PA) for a Wednesday doubleheader. |
