SALISBURY, NC – Already MVP of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament and an All-CIAA selection, Tiffany Haywood has received another award for this past basketball season. Haywood is a second team selection to The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association’s (NCCSIA) 2009-10 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team.

A native of Fayetteville, NC, Haywood was one of two players from CIAA institutions to make the first or second team. Saint Augustine’s Keyona Bryant was the other.

“She had a solid year, was consistent and attracted a lot of attention,” said FSU Head Coach Eva Patterson-Heath. “This award validates what she put into Lady Broncos basketball.”

Haywood helped lead FSU to a 20-10 overall record, its third appearance in the NCAA Division II Playoffs and its third CIAA Championship.

On the season, she ranked 16th in the CIAA and topped FSU, averaging 11.3 points per game. Haywood led FSU and the CIAA with 10.3 rebounds per game and registered 10 double-doubles. She had 14 points and a career-high 20 rebounds against Bowie State on Jan. 11. She had 12 or more rebounds ten times during the 2009-10 season and had a stretch where she recorded five-straight double doubles.

NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina.
