SU TO WATCH SELECTION SHOW Brandon Willis 03/14/10 Baton Rouge, LA – The Southern University women’s basketball team will gather at Walk-On’s Restaurant at 11575 Coursey Boulevard to learn the whereabouts of their first-round game in the 2010 NCAA championship tournament. Southern (23-8, 14-4 SWAC) earn the Southwestern Athletic Conference automatic bid into the NCAA tournament after defeating Alabama State University 60-47. The SWAC regular season champions, #1 seeded SWAC tournament team and 2010 tournament champions will learn their location as well as their opponent when the Women’s basketball Selection Committee announces the field of 64 teams who will compete for the 2010 NCAA national championship. “They wanted this,” head coach Sandy Pugh said. “When we were running those 50s and they were crying, I think they can look back and say thank you because it helped prepare them mentally for the road ahead. I’m just really appreciative of everybody.” Fans are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating. The Jaguars, trophies in hand, will arrive at 5:45 pm ready to sign autographs and take pictures.
