| GROUND BROKEN FOR NEW VSU ATHLETIC STORAGE BUILDING Jim Junot 06/28/09 Ground was broken on Saturday (June 27) on the Virginia State University campus for the new Rogers Stadium Storage Building. The
new structure, which will be 80 feet long and 40 feet wide (3,200square
feet) will be a prefabricated metal storage building and will be constructed
at the east side of Rogers Stadium off Matthews-Jefferson Boulevard. The
building will sit just south of the large rolling double gates and concrete
entrance apron with the long side parallel to the fence. The interior of the building has been designed to accommodate individualized storage for each sport, in addition to commonly used storage for the athletic director and a multi-purpose room for the athletic department. There will also be a unisex bathroom, an emergency eye wash station and a unit heating system. The exterior of the building includes a new handicap parking space that will be located adjacent from the building, a new painted crosswalk, and a new handicap concrete entrance apron that will lead to the new handicap ramp. The project was designed by CEGG, Inc., of Virginia Beach, Va., and the construction was awarded to RF Howerton, Inc., of Warfield, Va., in the amount of $196,993. The project is due to be completed by December 16,2009. |
