FOTHERGILL FINISHES SIXTH IN 400 AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Junior sprinter runs 45.81 in finals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior Allodin Fothergill (New Hempstead, N.Y.) ran 45.81
in the men's 400-meter finals in the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at
McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas Saturday.

Fothergill finished sixth in the event and earned three points in the team standings. He
was fourth overall heading in to the championship race, having lowered the time he
posted Wednesday to get into the semifinal. Fothergill topped Thomas Murdaugh (45.90)
of Ohio State, Bryan Miller (45.91) of Texas A&M and Robert Simmons of Louisiana
State (did not finish) in the final.

Fothergill was fifth after the prelims with a time of 46.01.

The same three student-athletes who claimed the first three places in the semifinal round
did so in the final.

Florida State's Jonathan Borlee won the event with a time of 44.78 to go along with 10
points for the Seminoles. Michael Bingham (45.09) of Wake Forest took second for eight
points and Calvin Smith (45.29) of Florida was third with six points.

Dwight Mullings of Mississippi State was just ahead of Fothergill in fifth. He ran 45.48
and scored four points.
