ROGER BROWN INDUCTED INTO COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TYLER BIRNBAUM 05/26/09 UMES Hall of Fame lineman, NFL All-Pro to be recognized July 17-21 SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Former University of Maryland Eastern Shore lineman and Hall of Famer Roger Brown will be inducted into the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame, the organization announced. Brown led the Hawks to the CIAA title in 1957 and was twice named an NAIA All- American in 1958 and 1959. A two-time Pittsburgh Courier Negro All-American selection, the Hawks posted a 24-5-1 record and outscored their opponents, 693-213, in his four years. He also anchored the Hawks' defensive line that limited opponents to 7.3 points per game. Brown was a fourth-round selection of the NFL's Detroit Lions in 1960 and played there until 1967 before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams and becoming a part of the Rams' famed "Fearsome Foursome." Brown was named the 1962 National Football League Pro Lineman of the Year and was selected to the Pro Bowl six times. The enshrinement ceremony and festivities will be held July 17-21 and will include a concert followed by fireworks on Friday, July 17. The Grand Parade followed by a fan festival and pep rally is scheduled for Saturday. The day concludes with the Dinner and Show, hosted by ESPN's Rece Davis and Mark May.
